Micheline’s Pita House

Worker making a wrap at Micheline's Pita House

My son wanted McDonalds for lunch. I talked him into Micheline’s Pita House instead. They are both right there in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center.

My son, my wife and I all like Micheline’s. I actually loved it when we first discovered it, but it isn’t as new to me anymore. I guess my heart desires the allure of the unknown, but new or not, they’re good.

Micheline’s Pita House reminds me of a Mediterranean version of Chipotle, but they have more ingredients to choose from.

Falafel plate with vegetables and corn salad.

You can have them make you a bowl, a salad, a pita or a plate with those ingredients.

Some favorite ingredients are gyro meat, shoug, Green Goddess Spicy Tahini and flavored hummuses. There’s a gazillion combinations, which makes it fun.

I also like their fries, ala carte proteins, and I am always a sucker for dolmas when I can get them.

My wife and son got wraps. My son also enjoyed a Pelligrino.

I always try to make it new by trying something new. I got a plate with falafel as my “protein.” I really liked my cilantro jalapeño hummus and my chipotle aioli.

I have tried the pitas and the bowls and the salads. I really like the wraps, but I usually try to do a salad. I really like the Couscous Morrocan Salad and the Superfood Ancient Grains Salad.

Since I did mention Chipotle, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that Micheline’s Pita House is a lot better than Chipotle, which I like BTW. A closer comparison would be CAVA.

They have locations in La Jolla, Del Mar and Solana Beach.

I am pretty sure I’ve gotten the dolmas at the the Solana Beach location, but the Del Mar location doesn’t seem to have them.
