Was feeling a little congested and wanted some soup. I’ve had the Mish Mosh Soup at Milton’s Deli before. BTW, they do big sandwiches, but I just wanted hot soup.
Milton’s is in the Flower Hill strip mall in Del Mar, on Villa De La Valle. There is a big parking structure behind Whole Foods, but Milton’s has reserved parking spots closer for their customers.
According to their thick, high-caliber napkins, they were established in 1995, though I would’ve guessed 1955. Actually, I wouldn’t have been surprised if it were 1905.
Let’s just say they embrace a by-gone era. It has charm, but I didn’t love the music. It is a large space and the chatter level was good. It’s comfortable.
The Mish Mosh Soup is currently $16, and it is big, hot, and has huge chunks of chicken, noodles, thick-cut carrots, a giant matzo ball and a meat-filled kreplach—a Jewish dumpling.

I kind of wanted chop sticks for the noodles, but there was no way that was happening. They didn’t really require chop sticks anyhow. The chicken broth was hot and pretty good. The noodles don’t compare to asian noodles—I should’a got pho somewhere.
The kreblach was pretty awesome, outside an in.
The bowl was big enough for two or three—but who shares soup? I ended up picking up the bowl and drinking the rest of the broth, using my spoon to hold back the noodles.
It’s a pretty good soup for $16—but I’d rather have an Asian soup.
