My wife dropped me off at the Shiley Eye Institute for my follow up appointment. I am being monitored for a condition. I was there for a few hours. It was kinda painful.
There were many tests—one required repeating—many rooms, and many white coats. Eventually—to use my son’s video game lingo—I had to get past the final boss.
I had to wait so long for the big doc that they offered me a snack. By then, I needed it. Like I said, it was kinda painful, but I got good news at the end.
When I got out, I finished the second small Quaker Oatmeal bar they gave me, but I didn’t feel like sitting there waiting for my wife to come pick me up. I preferred to walk a little and have her pick me up somewhere else.
I figured it was like a half mile to the little plaza where Regents Pizza and a few other things are located. It was the right amount of walking, so I had her pick me up from there.
When she arrived, we decided to do lunch somewhere in that plaza. Aside from Regents itself, which BTW, is pretty good, there was a Micheline’s Pita House—also good—a delicatessen, Continent Delicatessen, Starbucks, L&L, Einstein’s Bagels, Rubicon Deli and—hiding in the back— a Japanese place that was new to us—Nozomi Sushi.
I pretty much always defer to the unknown. We had to try Nozomi.

This was right before noon and the atmosphere was nice. There were several tables of people eating, but it was more than half empty.
We ordered light, a Rainbow Roll, two miso soups and a cucumber salad. There were a lot of other enticing options, like bentos and udon, but we kept it light.
The cucumber salad had seaweed and was garnished with orange. It was pretty good. The misos were fine. I’ve had better but there was nothing wrong with them. The Rainbow Roll was fairly good. The pieces were a little on the bigger side I think, but not too big. It was good.
I felt like we ordered the right amount for two. We weren’t hungry anymore, but didn’t overeat. That’s a bonus in my book. We usually over-order.

More people came in after noon, but it still wasn’t super busy. It did start to feel kind of busy though, as one group had to stop the server and ask him to take their order. They had been waiting too long. Others seemed like they were sitting a while without food.
We waited patiently trying to ask for the check. My wife claims to have timed them, and it took over half an hour to get the check.
We ended up just going up to the desk, where we had to wait as well.
I’m sorry, but I doubt I’ll ever go back. The wait at the eye doctor was painful, but Nozomi almost gave them a run for their money. To be fair, the doctor’s office was worse—but not by much.
